"It is not enough merely to exist. You must do something more. You must give some time to your fellow man. Even if it's a little thing, do something for those who need help, something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. For you do not live in a world all your own. Your brothers and sisters are here too." ~ Albert Schweitzer |

The Children of Peru
Dr. Sharon Forrest has had the honor of being Mama Sharon to hundreds of Peruvian children since 1992. Some of these precious children currently live in orphanages which we help support and Willoq in the mountains outside of Ollantaytambo. She continues to help children of Peru in many other ways. She is President of The Wayshowers Society and Vice-president of Casa Hogar Del Sol, headquartered in Vancouver, B.C., a non profit Peruvian charitable organization. The organization also assist numerous families in the villages of Ollantaytambo and the Sacred Valley.
Dr. Sharon Forrest, a multifaceted healer and founder of Healthways International, established the Casa Hogar Del Sol to provide a means for others to contribute to the well being of children similar to those she had supported for years in Peru’s Sacred Valley. She said, “I decided to start Casa Hogar Del Sol Fund because I realized that I could no longer do it all alone. More children need sponsorship.” “Mama Sharon" has helped many children and adults change their lives forever. One of her many “adopted” Peruvian children was Washi, whom she met when he was a child of nine and she was walking up the steps of the temple in Ollantaytambo. Her support of Washington inspired him to give back to the people of his community. Not surprisingly, Washington has been asked to run for Mayor of his town and community and Carlos is called "The Father of the Children of the Street". She is very proud that Washington and his brother Carlos, the first Peruvian children she helped, are administering charitable projects in Peru.
Other young people like Carlos, Washington, Maria-Liliana, Marlene, Janet, Soreyada, Paul, Ronnie, Marcelo, to name a few, who have benefited from Mama Sharon’s programs for the last 20 years. All have degrees. Today they are caring young men and women giving back to their community in extraordinary ways. Carlos and Washington are strong voices and support for the poor in Peru and on a regular basis trekking miles to bring food, school supplies, dental care, blankets and clothing to the destitute in remote high Andean Mountains. Maria-Liliana, who recently graduated as a psychologist, and Carlos have started to evaluate and help families where domestic violence, incest, alcohol and absent fathers are rampant. Carlos and Mama Sharon founded Casa Hogar Del Sol in 2007 and Paskay in 2010.
